The Knife Gate Valve is a specialized industrial valve developed for applications where conventional gate valves may struggle with thick, fibrous, or solids-laden media. It uses a thin, stainless-steel knife-like gate that moves vertically through the flow path, allowing it to cut through slurry, pulp, sludge, fibers, and other difficult materials during closing.
Its compact construction provides a relatively short face-to-face length and low weight compared with conventional gate valves. When fully open, the valve offers a large flow passage with minimal pressure drop, making it well suited for demanding isolation applications.
Knife Gate Valves are primarily intended for fully open or fully closed isolation service. Depending on the design, unidirectional or bidirectional configurations, resilient or metal seats, and manual or automated actuation can be supplied for different operating conditions.
